𝖋𝖔𝖑𝖐𝖑𝖔𝖗𝖎𝖈 𝖕𝖚𝖕𝖕𝖊𝖙𝖘 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝖉𝖔𝖑𝖑𝖘

I am a textile artist based in Donegal and London. My heritage inspires my work, growing up with both Iraqi and Irish influences. My work is rooted in Irish folktales, translated into narrative illustrations that evoke feelings of enchantment. Sustainability underpins my practice; I work exclusively with reclaimed materials- moth eaten Irish linen, beach combed fisherman rope, charity shop jewels and beads- giving discarded textiles a second life as storytelling objects. I am inspired by the tradition of the Seanchaí and like to create drawings alongside hand embroidered puppets/textiles. With these two elements, people can share stories as if they were the Seanchaí themselves, a homage to Irish folk tradition.
